I am so sorry to hear about Nina Joy's passing. She was an inspiration
and a role model for me. The world of radio has lost a great one.

Thanks to my dear friend Lee Dombrowski for e-mailing me this site! I
was happy to be a part of KWFM during the greatest years, and a pioneer
woman jock in the good old days. I will be happy to dig out some old
playlists and send them in...I see you have perhaps the best photo of
me that was ever taken! I keep in touch with Lee and Matty
Siegel...would love to hear from the rest of you.

Thank you for keeping Bob Cooke's memory alive. I was a teenager and Bob
let me host a 30 minute radio show on Sunday evenings for my JA project.
He was such a cool dude. I was broken when he was murdered. So many
years later and I still think of him from time to time. He was that
special. We had him for such a short time and he was way ahead of his
time. He would have ended up being one of the greats for sure.

It was so much fun photographing the crew throughout the years. KWFM was
my favorite station. Miss all of you.

I just wanted to let everyone know my dad Alvin just pasted away October
21, 2006. He was very proud of KWFM and it always was a big part of his
life.

Found this looking for anything I can find on the classic "Mississippi"
Charles Bevel song "Overheard".

I have heard only on two radio stations, both in Tucson. One of course
was KWFM (still the best station I have ever listened too). The other
had a direct link to KW because the music director the overnight DJ for
several years on KW, and that was KEKO.

It was a shame when KRQQ went on the air and forced KW to change its
(what is now called AAA) format.

Was in Tucson last March (O4) and heard the Mountain, good, but still
not as good as KW in its heyday.

Wow! This site is soooo freakin'cool! Hearing those old Bob Cooke
airchecks brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for doing such a
wonderful job of preserving the memory of this great station!

P.S. Keep an eye out for "High and Dry" the documentary which I
co-produced about the Tucson Music scene which features interviews with
Dave LaRussa and other Tucson air personalities.

THIS IS GREAT!!!

I worked 7p-12m at KWFM from 83 to 85 for Jim Ray. I was there on the
day the music died and they changed format to soft rock. Shortly after
I went to KOMP in Las Vegas to work for Charlie Morris. Those were the
best days of my 25 year radio career. Still have the old KWFM Silk
Jacket!

Thanks for putting this together! Great Memories.

I bought a copy KWFM On The Air from 1980 at a garage sale. The first
track, " Tough Customers" by Central Air, has a familiar sound,a lot
like the Steve Morse band, The Dregs. With no liner notes I can't say
for sure. Got any input? Good album though.

Aside from that, we had a progressive station in Cleveland, WMMS, but
they keep changing formats. We do have The Fusion Show once a week on a
college station with Randy Allard hosting for 22 years.

Heh, Doug....when I was a young single woman I used "RYE" for some
anonymity at home....you are correct the real spelling is Wrye, but I
answer to either/both...haha :)
